Graphite Linen Shawl, Naturally Dyed

Linen Mist – Shades of gray, graphite.

A delicate shawl made of thin, semi-transparent linen with a fine, slightly crinkled texture. It has been hand-dyed in a plant bath – a multi-step, entirely natural process that brings out subtle, unique shades in a muted color palette.

Only plants growing in the immediate surroundings are used, giving each shawl its own character and telling the story of the place it comes from.

You won’t find bright neon colors here – only the simplicity of nature and the reassurance that the linen fabric is gentle not only on your skin but also on the environment.

Dyes::

  • black alder / alnus glutinosa

The dyeing properties of black alder have been known to our rural ancestors for centuries. Parts of this plant, which thrives in moist riverside and swampy thickets, were used to dye fibers in shades of gray, black, violet, and ochre. In Polish Slavic folklore, black alder was often associated with devils and water spirits because of its preference for wetlands. It appears in many tales of the struggle between God and the devil during the creation of the world. Its bark, when cut, turns a deep reddish hue reminiscent of bleeding, a trait that also appears in numerous fantastical elements of folk stories.

Care:

Naturally dyed fabrics should be treated gently. Hand wash in mild detergents at low temperatures (30–40°C / 86–104°F). Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight. Over time and with repeated washing, colors may subtly change – a natural part of the fabric’s character.
